Hearing Highlights

The following chart lists the services and supplies covered under the hearing benefit for the Trooper Chapter, Airport Police and Fire Officers Chapter, Fairbanks Police Department, and Juneau Police Department members, as of July 1, 2005. Refer to your Benefit Booklet for details, general limitations and exclusions.

Hearing benefit maximum

$1,250 maximum (per three consecutive calendar years)

Covered services

  • One ear examination
  • One hearing examination
  • Hearing aid prescribed as a result of the examination
  • Hearing aid rental while primary unit is being repaired
  • Ear mold(s)
  • Hearing aid instrument
  • Initial batteries, cords, other necessary ancillary equipment
  • Warranty
  • Repairs, servicing and alteration of hearing aid equipment
Limitations

In order to receive benefits:

  • You must be examined by a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.) before obtaining a hearing aid, and

  • You must purchase a hearing aid device.
